An interesting article from io9 concerning female-centric action movies, and their fate, with regard to the lack of a hit (or critically acclaimed) female superhero movie.
Why do studios take a failed superhero film with a female star (Catwoman, Elektra, etc.) and associate that failure with the gender of the hero, but never do that with male led films, of which there are far more and far larger flops (Green Lantern, Jonah Hex, John Carter)?
Is the double-standard coincidence, or do the major studios still not trust women?
